Bevan began his career as a barrister’s clerk in the Temple, London. He
qualified as a solicitor in 1988. More recently he headed the Insurance
Department of Bevan Ashford solicitors in Exeter before moving to Bond Pearce
LLP where he was Senior Counsel.
2008 Nicholas was presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the
Barker Brooks Media Personal Injury Awards for his contribution to legal
practice and reform. He is the winner of the Global Finance UK Personal Injury
Lawyer Of the Year for 2016. He has been shortlisted for the Law Monthly
Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year Award 2016 and was a finalist for the 2016
Modern Law Awards top prize for Outstanding Achievement. He was awarded a
doctorate from Exeter University for his ground-breaking research on motor
insurance in 2017. He set up and ran the first LLM course on motor insurance
law in the country at Exeter in 2016/2017.
He has been
campaigning for extensive reform to our statutory and extra-statutory provision
for victims of uninsured and untraced drivers. The victims run down in
Westminster and London bridges terrorist outrages will be receive full
compensation from the motor insures due to his work. He brought about one of
the widest ranging judicial reviews of any UK transposition of EU law in R (on
the application of RoadPeace) v Secretary of State for Transport.
is a regular speaker at legal events and is a legal trainer specialising in
motor insurance and liability issues, personal injury claims including asbestos
related and other industrial disease claims.
